Nathan, tu es jeune et tu rides bien, mais qui es-tu ? D’où viens-tu ? Es tu toujours à l’école et as-tu de bonnes notes ?
J’habite à Bourg Saint Maurice. J’ai commencé le ski à l’age de 3 ans quand mon père m’a mis sur des lattes. Plus tard, j’ai intégré le club alpin de La Rosière, mais à force de voir mes potes s’éclater dans le snowpark, juste à côté du stade de slalom, j’ai voulu les rejoindre. J’ai donc quitté le ski club à l’âge de 12 ans pour me consacrer au freestyle. Maintenant, je suis en cours à Saint Michel de Maurienne (et oui, en Maurienne !) je passe un bac pro commerce sur 4 ans. C’est un ski-étude et je n’ai pas de cours l’hiver, ce qui me permet de skier un maximum. Au niveau des notes, je ne suis pas un élève modèle, mais au premier trimestre, j’avais quand même 13 de moyenne ! La suite, on verra bien car ce n’est pas facile de retourner sur les bancs de l’école après avoir passé tout l’hiver sur les skis !
J’ai vu que tu étais bien pote avec Victor Berard, mais avec qui as-tu l’habitude de skier ? Fais-tu partie d’un crew ?
Oui en effet je fréquente beaucoup Victor. On a passé un mois ensemble aux US l’année dernière et, cette saison, on a fait pas mal d’événements et de shootings. Sinon, je ride souvent avec Julien Eustache mon copain d’enfance et je fais partie de la Néophile Familia, donc je skie souvent avec Anatole, Jules, Aristide et les autres.
Peux-tu nous raconter une journée de ski ordinaire ?
Pour moi ça commence par un bon petit dej. Ensuite Jules passe me prendre chez moi et m’emmène au funiculaire pour monter aux Arcs. On fait quelques pistes d’échauffement et on rejoint Greg Dufosse, Victor et toute la bande sur le park. Je commence avec des tricks tranquilles puis je monte en puissance tout doucement en faisant des tricks de plus en plus techniques. Généralement, on essaye aussi de filmer nos journées au park. En fin d’aprèm, je rentre chez moi et je me pose un peu. Je m’étire. Je fais de la récupération pour être bien le lendemain.
Tu es plutôt un rider de slope style, c’est ce que tu préfères ou tu es simplement une brelle en half pipe ?
J’ai commencé le freestyle à La Rosière ou il n’y a pas de pipe, je me suis donc orienté vers le slope par défaut. Quand j’ai commencé un peu à bouger, j’ai essayé le pipe, mais je n’ai pas accroché (c’est sûrement parce que je suis une brelle et que je n’arrive pas à dépasser le copping…).
Toi qui est un jeune rider qui fait pas mal de contests, peux tu nous donner ton avis sur l’arrivée du slope aux J.O. ?
Je pense que les J.O. vont beaucoup apporter au ski freestyle. Tout d’abord, c’est bon pour le business. On a déjà pu remarquer que les marques s’impliquent de plus en plus. Elles essayent de recruter les rider qui ont le potentiel d’une médaille à Sotchi. Ensuite, cela va permettre à notre sport de gagner en notoriété. Enfin, en France nous avons besoin de plus de structures d’entraînements, de snowparks, de club… Et je crois que les J.O. peuvent nous apporter tout ça. Je pense qu’à l’avenir, il y aura deux types de rider. Les riders FIS, participant aux contests et les riders d’images, ceux qui auront refusé de se plier aux lois de la fédé. Evidemment, je peux me tromper, c’est un avis personnel.
